Todd Cyrulik has been a passionate designer and planner for BLDD for 20 years. Todd grew up around construction sites, and he has spent his life devoted to improving the built environment around him.
Todd loves discovering new things and sharing his passion for discovery with his entire family. In his free time, he can be found trekking all corners of the United States in search of fun and memories with his wife, Angie, and their own little group of explorers: oldest son, Evan, and triplets, Claire, Owen, and Olivia.
We asked Todd some fun questions:

What has been your favorite age and why?
I loved 18 and I love today. At 18 I thought I had it all figured out and was good with that. Today, I know I have a few things figured out, don’t worry as much about the things I don’t, and I’m good with that. The days in between were filled with lots of evidence for the latter. Looking forward to tomorrow.
What purchase(s) of less than $100 have most improved your life?
Modern Architecture: A Critical History by Frampton – $17.95+tax. I bought it when I was at a crossroads in college. I read it while riding to and from the jobsite during the summer in 1994. That summer I found purpose and passion.
What is your favorite book or author?
Rework by Fried and Hansson
What is your favorite place or built environment?
Beach in Santorini
If you could do anything without worrying about getting paid you would be a…
I would design and craft houses and give them to people.
What is the most dangerous thing you have done?
I worked my way through college building concrete grain elevators hundreds of feet in the air with out a net or harness…
What is your favorite failure?
Not getting out of that blind date in November 1999.
Thanks, Todd!
