The BLDD family is growing again.

We are once again excited to announce new hires in all of our office locations! Our BLDD family continues to grow to meet the needs of our fantastic clients.

First up, Kayla Peck. Kayla spent the last two summers as an intern in the Central Illinois office of BLDD. She now joins us full-time as an Architectural Intern. Growing up with a father who was constantly working on a project, Kayla quickly grew a curiosity about the built world, and soon started looking into architecture.

Kayla enjoys working with a variety of crafts such as ceramics, stained glass making, and is currently pushing to sharpen her woodworking skills. Overall, Kayla strives to know how the world is built by being as hands-on as much as she can.

Also in our Central Illinois office, Gregory Butler joins BLDD as a Licensed Architect. Greg’s story began sitting in a Chicago suburb’s detached garage with a dilapidated 2×4 in his lap and a rusty coffee can brimming with spare nails by his side. This backdrop was Greg’s grandfather’s garage and something he instilled in Greg during those younger years was the bliss of creating something from seemingly nothing.

Family continues to be the drumbeat to Greg’s life as he and his wife Allyson raise their two young boys. They live in an historic neighborhood in Washington, Illinois and enjoy many of the amenities of residing in a walkable community. Some of the hobbies Greg enjoys most are sharing his love of Chicago sports with his children, reading way too many books all at the same time, listening to podcasts, and occasionally sampling fine scotch with fellow co-worker, Kendall Oliver.

Taylor Colclasure joins BLDD as a full-time Architectural Intern. Taylor grew up on the job site of his father’s construction company, which sparked his interest in the built environment. After college, Taylor expanded his design and construction experience with his father’s company.  Later he work as technical support for Autodesk design software. Taylor is is excited to continue broadening his knowledge and experience in the architectural industry with BLDD.

Taylor enjoys boating, riding motorcycles, playing pick-up basketball, and watching the Cubs. He is an active member of his church and often chaperones youth trips as well as mission work in Honduras.

T.J. Hammersland-Torres, Jr. is the newest face in our Davenport office as a full-time Architectural Intern. His passion for architecture began young while playing with Legos and sketching. He developed an interest in the preservation of historic structures through studio projects, research of his family history, and recent travels. T.J. looks forward to gaining project experience to further develop his design skills to positively impact his community.

T.J. enjoys cycling on local trails, photographing architecture and landscapes, and binge watching YouTube or Netflix. He also enjoys any opportunity to bake. Favorite recipe? Sour Cream Raisin Bars. We hope he brings some in to share!

Creighton North joins BLDD in our Chicago office as an Architectural Intern. He has always been fascinated with community-centered projects and seeking to provide for diverse user-groups in a single space. Creighton plans to return to school for his Masters of Architecture in the summer of 2019.

Creighton loves spending time socializing with friends. He enjoys team sports, particularly basketball, and will always take the opportunity to play or watch a game when it’s given. His Vermont roots have given him a healthy appreciation for the great outdoors whether it’s time on the beach or lake, hiking, or spending time downtown.

Look for more posts coming soon as we have added summer interns to our growing family as well!
